Introduction

In early 2001, Sun Microsystems started selling the Sun Blade 100 workstation. At under $1000 this has made the Sparc-based machine available to a wide range of buyers, not just to corporations and relatively specialist firms. I decided to buy a Blade 100 for home use.

This website (which came online in May 2001) is partly a record of my experiences with the machine, and now quite predominantly a place for the users of the Blade 100 to share information, too! The FAQ is generated by a program called Faq-o-matic. It is possible to contribute interactively, so please feel free to add to it if appropriate. There is also a PHP forum (based on Phorum) where you can post messages.

 The FAQ is always under construction, so if you have anything you would like adding please log in and submit the question and answer, or if you prefer you can email it to me directly. Please bear in mind that it is better to use the forum than email me - others can help, and learn from the reply, if you ask publicly. I get a lot of emails directly that would be of wider interest, so please try and help grow this site by using the forum instead. Thanks!

This PHP forum is designed to allow you to post messages about the Sun Blade 100/150 workstation. If you have a question it may be that I will get round to answering it, or another reader might see your question. As the Blade 100/150 community grows hopefully there will be more interest and help available! I will try and keep answers from discussions and put them in the FAQ as appropriate.

The mailing list for this site contains all traffic from the forum, as well as any other threads. You can manage your own subscription (including using digest mode if you wish to have messages delivered once a day).


Is your question not directly related to the Sun Blade 100/150?

This site is for Sun Blade 100 or Sun Blade 150-related topics, although some divergence is useful occasionally. However, if you have arrived here from a search engine with a more general question, eg. about Solaris or other Sun boxes, why not try one of the following? Thanks for your understanding.
